Eighth Grade ART - Rotation ONE
Eighth Graders have the chance to experiment with everything that they learned throughout their educational careers. They have learned about 2D art, ceramics and sculpture, but now, I encourage them to explore and apply their knowledge of the Elements of Art and Principles of Designs, giving more of an emotional input into their art. The slides below are the initial stages of what the students have created.
THE EIGHTH GRADERS DID It! They FINISHED their work! See the slideshow at the bottom.

PROJECT NUMBER ONE
These finished portraits represent the subjects through the media, rather than the portrait merely being an exact likeness. The process/ the thought, was of greater importance for the students. Understanding and answering the question WHY they chose one medium over another was one of the objectives. This is a sampling of their efforts.
PROJECT NUMBER TWO
Students learned about perspective and incorporate magazine images and created 3D sculpture to fit into their artwork. There were some very imaginative and fascinating results...
PROJECT NUMBER THREE
The third time is the charm. Students had to create "PARODIES" of the works of the MASTERS - Greats like Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Miro, Leyster, Dali, Gauguin, and more. See if you can figure out who's who in the painting and who the original artist could be. The students did a great job copying the works and learned about the history of the artist as well as their motivation.
