Students to Students
Students to Students is a page totally devoted to what students wish they knew BEFORE taking eighth grade art. This page is like infomercials, developed to speak directly to students. It's advice out of the mouths of babes, spoken in their own language, so that the next group can make better choices with the end results being a higher quality than the previous rotation. It's the proverbial hand up. :-)
The following comments are from students; finishing the statement: If I had more time, [to work on various projects], I would have liked to...
"Maybe I would have made my art portrait larger and more colorful... I would have added more details"
"Color in the spaces...Make more details and, [more], bold"
"Focus more..."
"I would have liked to make more detailed image of myself"
"Add more details[s] to my background to make it more realistic"
"Finished my art project"
"If I could I wish I could go back and re-do everything"
"...made my painting better"
" ...make it technically better. My background could have had more shading variation and I would have blended the stripes better"
"Add more detail and maybe use the cray pas with more and different color combinations, which could have "spiced" up my art piece a bit"
"If I had more time I would like to go back and make some of my line more clear and straight but overall I am really happy with how my piece turned out"
"Been a little neater on my drawing"
"Do the people a lot better..."
"Put a little more color"
"I would have made a different color choice..."
"Add more stuff to the background"
"...paid more attention to detail"
These following comments are students offering "words of wisdom" concerning the art show event:
"Work hard to produce work you'll be proud of"
"Mingle, take compliments sincerely and compliment others"
"My wisdom is simple and obvious: the art show would have been much nicer if everyone had put in the work to make a good project"
"Work hard - prepare for the show as you produce your work"
"Get your work done"
"Focus"
"Converse with people"
"Stand by your work"
"Explain your art"
"Be proud of your work"
"Try your hardest on your art work, so that you will be proud to show it to your family and even strangers. Make it mean something so you can feel proud and remember it"
"Try your best"
"Pace yourself"
"Make progress on your work everyday"
"Everyone should attend"
What students enjoyed...
"All the people that surrounded me"
"The food"
"Comments"
"Conversation"
"The gathering of people"
"Seeing my classmates work"
"The pleasant feeling carried in the room"
"Compliments"
"The ambiance"
